Little Stars Summer Music Program & Private Lessons

In association with

The Little Stars Summer Music Program began as an Arts Outreach Project in association with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and NPR’s From the Top.  The program has achieved phenomenal growth since its beginning in June 2013.  The Little Stars Summer Music Program won an endorsement with the National Federation of Music Clubs after being selected ‘New Music Program of 2015.’  It has been featured on FCTV Channel 1 and KOLN-KGIN 10/11 News out of Lincoln, NE.

This summer program is geared for children ages 3-6 and 7-11.  These two age groups meet in different sessions, which are listed below.  The music curriculum covered within the five days of each session varies from week to week – however will include the following: short private and group lessons on piano and stringed instruments, fundamentals of music theory, exposure to Classical music and various composers, basic Dalcroze Eurhythmics (study of music and movement), introductions to new musical instruments, and singing.  Oftentimes, the Little Stars Summer Music Program brings in a guest artist to perform for the children.

The program is taught jointly by David and Glenda von Behren. Both music teachers are experienced in the field of educating elementary-aged children.
